Birds in the Park

Water Birds

The two ponds are home to a range of water birds. A sign near the lower pond provides some information for visitors about the Mallard, Mute Swan, Tufted Duck, Canada Goose, Little Grebe, Grey Heron, Moorhen and Coot.

Walking in Ice in 2009

Swans have been a feature for many years with a regular breeding pair. One of the swans died and new pairs were introduced resulting in five cygnets being born in 2011.

Other Birds

Herons are regular visitors and can bee seen roosting on the island in the middle of the lower pool.

Bird Blog

Local birder Paul Broomhead provides a regular blog on birds in the park at redhousepark.blogspot.com.
