Happy New Year
Red House Park consists of a Victorian house with playing fields, woods, parkland and lakes in the Great Barr area of Sandwell. The park is an important amenity for the local residents and much work is currently being undertaken to improve many aspects of the park and the Red House itself. This is being co-ordinated by the Friends of Red House park. This web site will support their activities and provide a focal point for documenting the history of the area.

Future of the House - Recent Reports

At the council meeting held on 9th June a proposal to sell the Red House was put on hold. Objections were raised on the grounds of massive opposition from local people. The Friends of Red House Park said it objects to the planned sell off and more than 3,000 people have signed a petition supporting the view that the house should be open for community use. Further council meetings have taken place and it is reported the council still want to sell the house, and some nearby land, with a proviso that there will be some community facilities.
